UFC Fight Night 28: Teixeira vs Bader
VIDEO: Glover Teixeira Highlights action match is below
Bagautinov was very aggressive and always pushing the pace, confident in his striking and wrestling which kept Vinicius guessing when throwing a kick. Bagautinov was able to get the TKO win in the final round in impressive fashion. Vinicius needs to improve on his takedown defense and learn how to use his reach. His ground game is already solid, so this fight will really help him improve.
Wiseman: A total grappling match from beginning to end. Ultimately it was the ground game of Natal that gave him the decision win. Troeng made it challenging and Natal’s cardio gave him some issues, but he was still able to grind out a win. Troeng somehow managed to last 15 minutes, the majority of which he was in a choke position. Natal wasn’t able to finish him, but dominated throughout.
Wiseman: The body kicks of Trinaldo were displayed here. Trinaldo made Hallmann backpedal for the majority of the fight until the second round. Then, Hallmann had a little more gas and showed a ground game of his own to finish via kimura. Hallmann showed heart and technique over a BJJ opponent.
WINNER: JOSEPH BENAVIDEZ VIA FIRST ROUND TKO.
Wiseman: Since Duane Ludwig has gone to Team Alpha Male the striking of all members in the camp has improved. Benavidez is always fast, great combinations, etc., but his power in his combinations were on point. Benavidez dominated the entire fight until his TKO finish in the first round. Formiga didn’t stand a chance.
WINNER: RONALDO SOUZA VIA FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT.
Wiseman: Souza is powerful, with industrial grappling and Jiu-Jitsu, and is huge for 185. Okami once was a top contender and no match for Souza as I expected. Okami is able to take guys to the mat, but no one wants to take Souza to the mat due to his ground game. Now, Souza has been showing that standing with him isn’t smart either.
WINNER: GLOVER TEIXEIRA VIA FIRST ROUND TKO.
Wiseman: The striking of Bader has evolved and he is no longer only a wrestler. He showed against Texeira that he is able to use his jab effectively. His problem was that he rushed with a flurry too early after hurting Texeira, had his hands down, and Texeira countered with a hammer. Texeira showed tonight that he doesn’t deal well with fighters who force him to go backwards, but he is always dangerous and waiting for opponents to make a mistake
