1. Basic of Hook Punch

This punch have round house motion. Hook punch’s target is side portion of enemy. So, If you want powerful attack by using hook punch, you must use your weight. Your weight(Shaft of Body) must incline to way of attack. If you use left hand for hook punch, your shaft of body will incline to right side. This is centrifugal force. More tip for this motion, If you use left hand for hook, first of all, your left leg have almost 90% of your body weight. And then, in the moment that you swing your left hand to enemy, you can also move your weight to right side. This is important point for powerful hook punch.

2. Principle of Movement

The distance for using the hook punch is more short than straight punch. So, you must have hard covering. In this covering, If you catch the time for hook punch, you can open the guard, But, You shouldn’t move your hand for hook punch. You must move your chest & head to right side. Your left hand just stay. Your left hand just follow your chest & head.

3. Examples of Mistakes of Hook Punch

When you move your chest & head, don’t incline your head to back.

4. Hook Punch & Defense Movement

When people use the hook punch, almost men down the other hand from their head. This is bad movement for guarding. You must remember that hook punch is more close to enemy than straight punch. So, when you use hook punch techniques, you can also be punched by enemy.
And your elbow must cover your ribs. If your elbow opened from ribs, your ribs will be broke by body-kick/middle-kick(Round House Kicks).
